Where Do Black Men Live? explores the experiences of low-income and housing-insecure Black men in Cambridge, Massachusetts, amplifying voices too often excluded from conversations about housing, urban policy, and racial justice. Produced by The Black Response and based on 25 ethnographic interviews conducted by Haitian sociologist Stephanie Guirand for her doctoral research, the film uses a verbatim theatre approach, with its dialogue drawn directly from the words of the men interviewed. Eight men, portrayed by actors, are brought together in an imagined circle where they share deeply personal experiences of searching for, securing, and maintaining a place to call home. Directed by Corinne Spencer, with co-directors Gift Tapiwa Marovatsanga and Joy Wrolson, Where Do Black Men Live? transforms research and lived testimony into an intimate exploration of housing insecurity, systemic racism, resilience, and the fundamental question of who gets to feel secure and at home.
